Cs+(18-crown-6)2e-: a 1D Heisenberg antiferromagnet with unusual phase transitions

Article Abstract:

Issues concerning crystalline Cs+(18-crown-6)2e- as a linear chain Heisenberg antiferromagnet are considered. It has been established that increasing the temperature leads to irreversible conversion to a disordered or microcrystalline phase or phases with significantly altered properties.

Optical spectra and conductivities of thin films of the electride K+(cryptand[2.2.2])e-

Article Abstract:

Research was conducted on the electride K+(cryptand[2.2.2])e- thin film to determine its optical spectra and conductivities. Results showed that the optical conductivities, dielectric functions and absorption spectra of the thin film can be clearly determined by measuring the reflectance spectra from single crystals over a wide range of wavelengths together with the Kramers-Kronig analysis of the spectra. Moreover, four-probe conductivity studies of single crystals produce intrinsic conductivities and eliminate gain-boundary effect.

Potassium radical anion salts of 2,3-bis(2-pyridyl)quinoxaline

Article Abstract:

Research was conducted to examine the potassium radical anion salts of 2,3-bis(2-pyridyl)quinoxaline (dpq). The preparation and characterization of the radical anion salts were performed at -60 degrees C and 1/10 to the fifth power Torr. Results demonstrate that the electron donating ability of the pyridine and pyrazine nitrogen lone pairs of dpq stabilize the contact ion pair in solution throughout the temperature range of the experiment.
